Creating a different kind of value for Singapore’s big data industry
--
We made our entry into the big data scene earlier this year in Singapore as a homegrown startup with a vision to build a valuable data platform from our extensive and ever-growing library of data products and resources. Choosing to be headquartered in Singapore was a logical and strategic move with us Singaporeans being on the core team, and the fact that Singapore is currently at the forefront of Southeast Asia in terms of big data. In fact, Singapore is also known as Southeast Asia’s big data hub according to Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), with the data analytics industry contributing at least S$1 billion to its economy each year. Being in based in Singapore also means we have ease of access to the broader Asia market.
In the big data industry, one of the key challenges is to fill the talent gap. For BRDA, this is one of the key issues in mind as we started building our team. The skills and expertise required for our product development and execution led us to seek out critical talents globally. With the rapid development of Internet giants such as Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent in China, we managed to bring onboard key talents that were readied with vast experience in the fintech arms of one of China’s largest online retailer. Possessing capabilities in areas of data integration, monetization and industry data analysis, coupled with extensive knowledge in commerce, trade and technology, the adept utilization and application of big data and AI lead to the birth of our core product, BRDA Legion.
Over the years, businesses have been embracing Big Data and AI to drive business growth in various ways, such as to improve operational efficiency, market optimization and more. However, few, or even none had gone beyond areas of data analytics and business intelligence in our existing tech space. BRDA Legion is a celebration of a disruptive innovation in that space.
One successful project that propelled us into recognition was our foray into one of Asia’s booming industry. BRDA Legion, in its end-development stage, was used to derive valuable insights from toll data on a national level. It was an incredible feat as billions of lines of past transactions and millions of daily transactions were collected from over 10,000 toll stations countrywide. From injection of data to the development and creation of commercially viable products for banks and insurance companies required merely six months. We let big data do the heavy lifting with the least amount of resources required. Currently, we are already in talks with a few banks and insurance companies on product usage to meet their business goals.
Involving novel approaches in AI, data mining, domain modelling, valuable pre-trained industry model repositories and more, BRDA Legion is a constantly evolving product that can meet different business needs and most importantly, unlock commercially viable insights across different industries. Our experience with a national toll data is testament to that.
With the synergistic integration of our key global talents into our founding team, it will be a breeze unlocking the true value of data, requiring minimal resources and mundane work done. It will then be up to businesses to proactively make use of our tech strategically to make their next disruptive, winning move.
